Becoming a Mentee

  • 1. Sign up!

    Applying to colleges can be a very stressful process for many students. Visit our Get Involved Page and sign up to become a mentee If you are looking for guidance in anything regarding college applications, test prep, building resumes, scholarships, or even potential career paths.

  • 2. Get Matched!

    Every student is matched with an individualized mentor that matches their interests to reach their post-secondary goals, whether that be college, university, or vocational programs. All mentors are active college students who were once in your shoes, so ask questions and get the help you need.

  • 3. Meeting with Mentors!

    Weekly meetings will be scheduled with your mentor to ensure that you are on the right track throughout the application process. Count on your mentor to address any concerns you may have and provide you with the resources to achieve your specific goals. After each meeting make sure to fill out the mentee post-session survey.

  • 4. Reaching Your Goals!

    Mentoring America, Corp. strives to provide every high school student with equal resources to reach their future goals. Through informative webinars and mentoring sessions, students become aware of financial and scholarship resources, free study resources for entrance exams, and first hand college major advising.

Mentor Responsibilities

If you are interested in becoming a mentor, please visit our Get Involved Page and fill out the becoming a mentor survey.

  • You must be willing and able to meet with your mentee on a weekly or biweekly basis.

  • You must fill out mentor post-session surveys to ensure that there is effective communication between you and your mentee.

  • You must maintain high academic standing.

  • You must be aware of resources that would benefit your mentee and remind them of important deadlines.

  • You must respect the privacy of your mentee and keep personal information confidential.

  • You must remain aware of updates within the nonprofit and be willing to promote/participate in fundraising events.
